Innovate For Health will launch the BIDS-BCHSI Research Xchange Forum on Monday, November 2.

This Forum will be an open discussion platform for the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and research projects at the intersection of healthcare and data science.  Participants will be invited to engage in a variety of activities, including presentations of work-in-progress, discussions of recent papers and AI methods in healthcare, introductions to new tools and methods, and opportunities to foster new collaborations. The Forum will also present talks by I4H researchers and other leading voices in AI and healthcare, so that participants can share new and unique perspectives.

Clinicians and physicians with an interest in data science methods and tools, as well as data science faculty and researchers with interests in the healthcare and health sciences, are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Regular Forum participants will include Innovate For Health Fellows as well as post-docs, staff, and faculty from UC Berkeley, UCSF, and Johnson & Johnson. The group’s immediate goals are to share current research projects with a wider audience; increase the engagement between I4H Fellows, faculty and staff at UCSF, UC Berkeley, and Johnson & Johnson; improve communication among the three organizations; support the development and research of our members; and foster new collaborations.

This series will launch with a special kickoff event on November 2, 2020, at 1:30-4:00 PM Pacific, which will include introductions to the Data Science Health Innovation Fellowship, including the 2019-2021 and 2020-2022 Fellows.  Participants will hear about how UC Berkeley, UCSF, and Johnson & Johnson created the I4H program to bring together experienced data scientists with academic and industry researchers, and how they are endeavoring to tackle the most challenging problems in healthcare through data-driven approaches. The kickoff event will also feature talks from I4H Fellows Steph Eaneff, Lowry Kirkby, Laurens Kraal, and Haley Hunter-Zinck.   Following the Nov 2 kickoff, each Forum meeting will take place on the first Monday of each month at 12:30-1:30 PM Pacific starting in December
