As part of the recently-launched Innovate For Health program, a joint initiative of the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute at UCSF, and the Berkeley Institute of Data Science at UC Berkeley, five outstanding candidates were chosen from industry and academic data science to participate in a prestigious 2-year program that will expand the healthcare field with new ideas, innovative technologies, and cutting-edge research. The 2019-2021 Data Science Health Innovation Fellows began work on October 28th as the first cohort of the program.

Over the coming months, the new fellows will work with mentors from each of the Initiative's three organizing partners (UC Berkeley, UCSF, and the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson), and in Spring 2020, propose a research project that maximizes their technical, clinical and translational expertise with data-driven discovery and innovation using the vast health datasets and resources that are currently available.
